The ‘Brick House’, as it is fondly known by locals, sleeps six guests and is ideal for families or surfing enthusiasts.
The private, front-of-house garden offers outdoor dining, a fire pit, a beautifully landscaped berm with interesting plantings, and a delightful grassy area ideal for bocce ball, badminton or soaking in the summer sun with a good book.
The Tofino Brick House offers a unique living space on two levels, providing three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It features large picture windows with garden views, a skylite-filled roof, heavy timber frames, heated flooring, a floating, curved staircase, and a dramatic, relief-carved entrance door by Tofino artist Michelle Foley, who trained under master carver Henry Nola. And, a new hot tub has recently been added in the private, rear-of-house garden, which also features a tiled terrace with outdoor seating, BBQ, and a fabulous outdoor shower.
The main floor features a custom well-stocked kitchen with lovely natural light, Fir cabinets and quartz countertop, gas stove and wine bar (ideal for the passionate chef!); a lofty living room with comfortable seating anchored around an old-brick fireplace surmounted by a custom-made surf board graphically designed by Tofino artist Claire Watson; and a comfortable dining area with views to the garden and hot tub. A generous, elegant bedroom with two double beds is wonderful for adults or children. A full bathroom (shower only) and a laundry room with washer/dryer complete the main floor of the home.
The second level features a beautiful, light-filled sitting lounge with rustic, wide-plank floors, a fireplace, fabulous art books, a master bedroom with king-size bed, a second bedroom with queen-size bed, and a ‘glam-inspired’ bathroom with a glass-block window, a ‘mauve’ jetted tub and double sinks, separate shower, and heated tile floors. The second floor also features a west-facing balcony with seating for two, perfect for a late afternoon glass of wine. The Tofino Brick House shares a great collection of contemporary art by Vancouver Island artists, including Irma Soltonovich, Arden Rose, Claire Watson, and Graeme Masterton. It is also home to select vintage ceramics and objet d’art nestled amongst its nooks and crannies.
